Caution: Fake News! English course in Lower Austria

 April 15, 7:50 a.m.

A lot of you noticed that I hadn’t been so active in the last two weeks. Well, I’m glad to explain. There was an English course organized in Stift Göttweig, somewhat above St. Pölten, Lower Austria. So, my classmate and I had the chance to participate in this course to improve our language and communication skills.

The place we were staying at was extremely beautiful. It was actually a monastery, by the why! There were several monks walking around and there were other students who had lessons. However, our lessons began a little later than theirs, usually at around 8:30 a.m. and it would last until around 5 p.m. including breaks. The course was called „Fact or Fiction? Speaking with conviction!“. The goal was to analyse and eliminate fake news, how to spot them easily in daily life and we also talked a lot about propaganda. On the other hand, presentations skills made up a big part of it, too. We constantly had to prepare mini presentations and speeches, which we had to hold in front of everyone. There were 13 students including the two of us and two teachers leading the course. The course lasted from Monday to Friday.

Overall, I would say it was a great experience and I would highly recommend it to everyone. I made a lot of friends and the whole course really helped improve my communication skills and it helped me extend my vocabulary even further. Fun fact: in summer there are courses held in our school when every student is away working at their internships! How awesome is that? I would definitely go there again, if I had the chance.

What do you think about these kinds of courses? Would you like to attend one? Let me know in the comments!
