The Food in Irland

Hi everyone,

Today we want to tell you about our trip to Dublin. To be more specific, we will talk about the food in Dublin.

First, I will describe the food we got from our host family. We got breakfast, a lunch pack and dinner. In Dublin the day starts a little later than in Austria, for example school starts at 9 am. Since our days started at 8 am most of the time, we aet breakfast without our host parents, they were still sleeping. They packed lunch packages the day before, with a bottle of water, a sandwich, some fruits and a small pack of crisps. Since the lunch package was more like a snack, we went out at midday almost every day  to get food at a restaurant. The food in Dublin is pretty expensive, like in every capital. You won´t be paying less than 15 € a day for lunch.

Dublin don´t really have a typical food but potatoes are quit in every meal, because there was a time in Ireland where the inhabitants were malnourished and about to starve. Since the potatoes came to Ireland there are a big part of their foot culture.

In the center of Dublin, you can find all kinds of food, like Mexican, American, Japanese and many others. One day we ate Mexican the other day we ate Japanese. For Dinner we often ate with our host family, they always cooked fresh meals for us. On our arriving day we got homemade Pizza and the other days we got potato smash with chicken or Spaghetti.

For Drinks the beer Guinness is very common but you´re just allowed to drink at the age of 18 in Ireland. In the Pubs in Dublin are also many different cocktails like Woo Woo and Pink Fizz.

I hope you enjoyed our little blog entry of today.

See you!
